When actions, not words, make a difference – community tree planting initiative at Videoton
The initiative had two goals: to make our environment greener and, at the same time, to give colleagues an experience that goes beyond the everyday. Fifty employees signed up for the event, which in itself clearly shows that there is a demand for this type of shared activities. During the event, a total of about 20 trees were planted, 12 of them by our employees themselves in small teams. And this was not merely symbolic participation; the teams actively took part in the entire process – from digging and planting all the way to watering. This was precisely what made the program special. Every participant not only plants a tree but also takes responsibility for it: the saplings will be “adopted” and the care they receive does not go unnoticed, as colleagues who commit to regular watering during the summer receive a special reward.
This initiative is a good example of how sustainability doesn’t necessarily start with big, global steps. Sometimes all it takes is a shared afternoon, a shovel, a bucket of water – and a team willing to do something that will last in the long run. Because every tree planted is more than just a plant: it is a symbol of a shared decision, shared work, and a shared future.
